CASE STUDY

A previously high performing team discovers new insights into their team performance.

An Australian utility organization undergoing significant market and industry transformation.

PROBLEM

Recent changes within the organization, found a previously high performing, small team struggling.  Management wanted to understand:

•The underlying issues that led to low engagement, morale and performance;

•How leadership changes were impacting staff participation; and

•Practical approaches to improve team wellbeing and performance.

SOLUTION

A Conductor Audit was delivered across the team to:

•Gain deeper insight into the causes behind declining team morale and performance;

•Invite staff to openly and confidentially express their opinions and suggest improvements; and

•Understand nuances across new and existing leadership roles and how this influenced team members’ feelings of being valued, trusted, and supported.

OUTCOME

Team members responded to Conductor’s survey with a 100% response rate. The results identified key issues preventing team members from feeling safe.

Leadership learned that their working relationships, cultural sensitivities and interactions, were contagious and impacting team wellbeing and performance.

Insights from the survey data provided clear recommendations that could be quickly implemented,  through coaching and team building at the individual and team level.

CONCLUSION

The Conductor Audit provided the senior leadership parties with clear insights into how leadership styles were impacting team performance. The team now has a practical approach in place to support team members and leaders through change and are actively focused on improving individual working relationships.
